The NBC/Universal partnership has finally cemented itself through its new rebranding. Below is the new logo for the entertainment powerhouse, which was recently unveiled.
The peacock is dead. The stylized globe is gone. Any iconic styling or graphic element is completely dismissed. We are only left with Copperplate. What happened?

Now, here’s what I don’t understand. Was it so hard to combine these two logos to create an amalgam that would still hold both visual identities?
Below is my simple update that leaves the company its built-in iconic presence and functions perfectly as a watermark to shove at the bottom of the screen.
Am I missing something?
