Another piece for Planet-Pulp’s Pixar Show.
This started as a not-so-simple portrait of Fred Willard from Wall-E. He was the only non-animated character to ever appear in a Pixar film. After I finished him, I tried to figure out some context. I ended up thinking about Buy-N-Large and how they probably started out as some sort of Walmart or supermarket. I’m not a huge fan of the logos they used in the film, but every logo develops over time and usually the earlier ones have more personality. I was doing a time dash anyway, so I took Piggly Wiggly as inspiration and went off from there.
Saw this film the other day. Couldn’t picture the poster in my head because the original one is less than memorable.
Had to make my own.
I entered a design contest set up by Chris Hardwick and Jim Gaffigan.
I lost. Boo. I like my designs though. Had to share.
